| Abstract | Elective surgery is associated with decreased postoperative muskuloskeletal function. High aerobic capacity and muscle strength prior to operation is associated with a shorter and more uncomplicated postoperative period. Pre-operative training as intervention has only showed very limited effect in relation to abdominal or alloplastic surgery, whereas strength and coordination training prior to operation has been shown to have a beneficial effect on postoperative movement function after reconstructive ligament surgery of the knee. |
